Die Komposition dieses Bildes ist ausserordentlich kraftvoll und berzeugt im Tempo der Pinselfhrungen. Der sparsame Gebrauch von Tusche beim Malen der Zweige gibt eindeutig die rissige Rinde eines Pflaumenbaums wieder.
